Social Skill Groups

This service focuses on using peer mediated intervention to increase the social success of children with social challenges and autism spectrum disorders.

The program involves typically developing peer "mentors" paired-up with kiddo's with social delays for a 6-week, fun-packed social skills training "package." The package includes parent education, peer training + intervention, and ends with a field trip to promote generalization. We train our peers to become mentors by teaching the basics of "how to be a good friend", and our kiddo's learn through their buddies critical skills like initiating, responding, compromising, and good sportsmanship.
